Road-trip and RV planner that suggests stops along your route from a few questions

What is Roadtrippers Autopilot?

Autopilot is the AI trip wizard inside Roadtrippers, a road-trip planning app for the USA and Canada. Announced in April 2024, it asks for your start and destination, vehicle, companions, budget and the kinds of places you like, then suggests stops along the route; for RVs it plans an RV-friendly route and suggests campgrounds. It is a Premium feature, and Campendium's RV Pro membership also lists Autopilot.

Cost: Paid (From US$19.99 per month). Booking: Not confirmed by the provider. Works on: Web, iPhone, Android, Inside Roadtrippers.

Best for: US and Canada road-trippers and RVers who want stop suggestions along a route instead of adding every stop by hand.

How Roadtrippers Autopilot uses AI

Roadtrippers describes a patent-pending recommendation engine with an interactive AI interface that learns from trips planned on Roadtrippers to suggest stops matched to your interests, budget and vehicle. A 'Remix' option generates fresh suggestions if the first set misses.

Booking: Not confirmed by the provider.

Keep in mind

  • Autopilot is a Premium feature; the free tier allows 3 stops per trip and 1 saved trip
  • Roadtrippers says the app is designed for road trips in the USA and Canada only
  • When announced in December 2024, adding your own waypoints to Autopilot trips worked on the web only, with iOS and Android 'coming soon'

Is Roadtrippers Autopilot free? Cost and plans

Paid. Roadtrippers has a free tier, but Autopilot is a Premium feature. A 7-day trial of Premium features is offered only on annual plans and only to new users who have not had a trial; monthly plans are billed immediately. Basic (US$35.99/year) and Pro (US$49.99/year) tiers also exist.
