Can AI predict flight prices? How these tools find deals
There is no single best AI tool for cheaper flights; the right one depends on whether your dates are fixed. If you are flexible, Google Flights Flight Deals, a free beta, takes a plain-language description and flags fares well below a route's typical price. With fixed dates, Google's AI Mode can set a price alert while you chat, outside the European Economic Area (EEA: the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). If your route is set and you are deciding when to buy, AirHint and AirTrackBot forecast whether the fare is likely to rise or fall. For points and miles, Award Travel Finder and AwardClaw search award seats but do not book. Forecasts and deal labels are not guarantees: a fare can still rise after you wait or fall after you book.

What matters when choosing
- Forecast or comparison: AirHint and AirTrackBot forecast whether a fare will rise or fall; Google Flights Flight Deals and Pax compare today's fare with what the route usually costs. Both are estimates, not guarantees.
- Fixed or flexible: AI Mode alerts follow a route and dates you choose; Flight Deals, Skyscanner's Search with AI and Pax start from a loose idea or your home airport and suggest where to go.
- How alerts reach you: AI Mode, Pax and Award Travel Finder send email, and AwardClaw adds SMS alerts on its Pro+ plan.
- Where you live: AI Mode price tracking excludes the EEA, Skyscanner's AI search launched in English-speaking markets, Pax covers select Canadian airports and AwardClaw watches US and Canadian hubs.
- Where you pay: Google and Skyscanner send you to the airline or a travel site, Pax does not say how its deals are booked, and award tools leave you to book with the loyalty programme.

How AI flight deal tools work
The tools listed here use AI in two ways. Some turn a plain-language request into a search: Google Flights Flight Deals and Skyscanner's Search with AI read a request such as cheap flights to Japan in December and return destinations and dates with live fares, and Google's AI Mode sets up a price alert for the route and dates you describe. Others judge whether a fare is low: FlightHub says Pax runs on a pricing model trained on millions of real fare movements and uses it to spot fares that are unusually low for the route. Two forecast instead: AirHint says it trains machine-learning models for individual airlines on past fare changes to estimate whether a fare will rise or fall, and AirTrackBot gives a short-term outlook with a buy-now-or-wait recommendation and a confidence score.
The deal finders do not forecast. Their labels compare today's price with the past: Google defines a route's typical price as the median of the cheapest prices over the past 12 months, and gives its Savings Deals badge only to fares at least 20% below that; other results are simply among the cheapest for your search. Pax similarly compares a fare with what the route usually costs.
Treat any prediction or deal label as an estimate, not a guarantee. Skyscanner says its AI search results are for guidance only, and Google says prices and availability on Flight Deals can change before you book. A fare can still rise after you decide to wait, or fall after you buy.
Flexible search or one route?
If the destination is open, Google Flights Flight Deals and Skyscanner's Search with AI take a loose request, such as cheap flights to Japan in December, and return destinations with live fares. Pax does the same from your home airport, but only once a week, so a short-lived fare may be gone before the email arrives.
If the route and dates are fixed, a watch or forecast is more useful: Google's AI Mode sets a Google Flights alert for the route and dates you describe, and AirHint and AirTrackBot say whether to buy now or wait. Some well-known fare predictors and alert tools do not describe their features as AI, so they are not listed here.
Points and miles
Award Travel Finder and AwardClaw look for seats you pay for with points rather than cash. Award Travel Finder runs searches from inside Claude, ChatGPT or its own web chat and covers about 12 airline programmes live. AwardClaw watches premium-cabin saver space from US and Canadian hubs and alerts you only when a round trip for two is bookable.
Neither books for you: you redeem the seats with the airline's loyalty programme yourself. Google's AI Mode can also show points prices for a short list of programmes, including American Airlines, Alaska/Hawaiian Airlines and Hilton, with Flying Blue, Lufthansa Group and others announced as coming.
Check who sells the ticket
The Google tools, Skyscanner, AirHint and AirTrackBot do not sell flights: they send you to the airline, a travel agent or a booking site to pay. Pax comes from the online travel agency FlightHub but does not say how its deals are booked, and the award tools leave you to redeem seats with the loyalty programme.
Whoever takes your payment sets the change and refund rules. Before you pay, check whether you are buying from the airline or an intermediary, and what any add-on covers.
AI flight price predictors and fare alerts: common questions
Can AI predict flight prices?
Some tools try. AirHint says its machine-learning models, built per airline, estimate whether a fare will rise or fall, and AirTrackBot gives a short-term buy-now-or-wait outlook with a confidence score. Google Flights Flight Deals and Pax compare a fare with the route's usual price instead. Treat any forecast as an estimate, not a guarantee: prices can still move either way after you decide.
Does Google Flights use AI to find deals?
Yes, in Flight Deals, an experimental beta page that turns a plain-language description into destinations and dates, then searches Google Flights fares. The Google Flights Flight Deals listing covers where it works and how it labels a deal.
Can ChatGPT find cheap flights?
Partly, through connected apps. Skyscanner launched an app in ChatGPT in February 2026, in the UK and US, that returns live flight results from a chat request. For award seats, Award Travel Finder can be connected to ChatGPT or Claude. You still book with the airline or travel site. For what ChatGPT and other assistants can book, see the guide to AI assistants for travel.
How do I get an alert when a flight price drops?
For a set route and dates, Google's AI Mode can create a Google Flights alert while you chat and emails you when the fare changes, except in the European Economic Area. For award seats, Award Travel Finder and AwardClaw send route alerts.
Can AI find award flights with points?
Yes. Award Travel Finder searches award availability across about 12 airline programmes and suggests which points to use, and AwardClaw watches for business and first class saver seats for two from US and Canadian hubs. Neither books: you redeem with the loyalty programme. Both have free plans with limits.
