Layla vs Mindtrip
It depends on who you want to do the booking. Mindtrip lets you plan on a map and book flights and hotels yourself in the same free chat, with its booking partners as the sellers, but it runs only on the web and iPhone. Layla hands its AI itinerary to human travel advisors who check it and book it, with a review step its homepage puts at about 48 hours, and it also has an Android app. Planning with Layla is free; its terms say the Premium subscription still listed on iOS has not been offered to new subscribers since August 2026, and it recommends a budget of at least €100 per person per night.

An advisor or a checkout
Both planners start with a chat and end with an itinerary; they split at booking. Layla's website pairs its AI with human travel advisors who review the plan and book the hotels, flights, transfers and activities in it, and you can book yourself instead. The process starts with a conversation with an advisor, and the homepage shows advisors finalising a trip in about 48 hours, so build that time in before you need the trip confirmed. Layla does not say who sells the packages its advisors book, so check whose confirmation you receive.
Mindtrip lets you book inside the chat. It added flight booking with Sabre and PayPal in May 2026, and hotel search and booking, called Mindtrip Stays, in July 2026. Mindtrip's terms say it does not sell travel itself: every booking is made with a booking partner, sometimes by sending you to the partner's site, and that partner's terms apply. The terms also say prices shown may not include all taxes and fees.

Phones and the trip itself
Mindtrip runs on the web and iPhone. An Android app called 'Mindtrips' comes from a different developer, so it is not Mindtrip's own. Layla works on the web, iPhone and Android. Roam Around's itinerary generator became part of Layla in 2024, and Expedia Group acquired Layla in 2026.
Mindtrip reaches further into the trip itself. Since its September 2026 relaunch as a personal travel assistant, it remembers your preferences and runs agents that monitor prices, flight changes and weather, and a camera feature identifies what you photograph and translates signs and menus.
