What is KAYAK Ask AI?

KAYAK launched AI Mode on 15 October 2025, a natural-language search combining KAYAK's data with ChatGPT, after testing on its KAYAK.ai lab site (kayak.ai now redirects to kayak.com/ai). At launch it was English-only in the US on desktop and mobile browsers. In April 2026 AI Mode became Ask AI, reachable globally from the KAYAK homepage, with flight, hotel and rental-car results updating live next to the chat.

Cost: No separate charge (Comes with the device or service). Booking: Sends you to book elsewhere. Works on: Web, iPhone, Inside KAYAK.

Best for: Comparing flights, hotels and cars across many sites by chatting instead of filling in search forms.

How KAYAK Ask AI uses AI

Interprets travel questions in plain language and turns them into KAYAK searches that compare prices from hundreds of travel providers, refining results as you chat.

Booking: Sends you to book elsewhere.

KAYAK is a search engine: for most results you finish booking on the travel provider's site; some bookings are completed on KAYAK but are still fulfilled by a third-party provider
Changes and cancellations are handled by the airline, hotel, rental company or agency that fulfils the booking, not by KAYAK
