What is Google Gemini?
Gemini is Google's AI assistant. It pulls real-time options from Google Flights and Google Hotels, builds itineraries from Google Maps data, and with Personal Intelligence turned on can refer to flight and hotel confirmations already in your Google apps. Its Task feature (formerly Gemini Spark), for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, can run web errands such as booking travel, monitor flight and hotel prices, and asks for confirmation before purchases.
Cost: Free + paid plan (Paid from US$4.99 per month). Booking: Books for you on paid plans. Works on: Web, Mac or Windows app, iPhone, Android.
Best for: Google users who want trip ideas built on Maps, Flights and Hotels data and, on AI Pro, help with the booking legwork.
How Google Gemini uses AI
Gemini turns a plain-language trip description into flight and hotel searches and a neighbourhood-grouped itinerary; Task uses your Chrome browser on a computer, or a cloud browser on mobile, to search sites, fill in booking details and hand payment back to you.
Booking: Books for you on paid plans. Check who the seller is before you confirm: their change and refund rules apply to anything it books.
Keep in mind
- Standard flight and hotel search cannot book, cancel or change reservations; it links out to complete the booking
- Task requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, age 18+, a personal Google Account, Keep Activity on and Personal Intelligence opt-in
- Task is not available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the UK or Nigeria
- Flight and hotel search needs Keep Activity on and is not available in Live chats
- Standard flight search does not support alerts on saved flights, airline-alliance search or package deals outside Google Hotels
